En 1970 Elvis Presley se acercó a Washington, dispuesto a encontrarse con el Presidente en persona para así conseguir una placa de agente federal que le permitiese luchar contra la drogadicción en el país. Richard Nixon aceptó este peculiar encuentro, permitiendo al Rey del Rock & Roll entrar en el Despacho Oval de la Casa Blanca. Ambos se encontraban en momentos cruciales de sus carreras. Elvis entraba en declive a medida que la beatlemanía arrasaba hasta en los Estados Unidos, mientras que Nixon tenía que enfrentarse a la posibilidad de perder la guerra de Vietnam.
